Dan Chernow, Ed.D., Education and Management Consultant
Dan Chernow provides consulting and mentoring to individuals in management and educational leadership positions. His years of experience in leading private sector units and non-profit organizations have demonstrated his ability to bring out the best in people and organizations.
Dan was the Executive Director of the UCLA School Management Program and, subsequently, of its successor non-profit organization, Associates in Learning & Leadership for 18 years.
His professional background also includes being a secondary school history teacher, teaching at California State University, Northridge, in the Credentialing Program, and in the UCLA doctoral Educational Leadership Program; along with 32 years of diversified leadership experience with Pacific Theatres Corporation where he last served as Vice President and Assistant General Manager.
Dan serves as a Board Member of the California Coalition for Public Higher Education and as a Member of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education’s Dean’s Council at California State University, Northridge. He has also served on the California State Board of Education, acting as its Legislative Committee Chairperson; on the California Curriculum Frameworks and Supplemental Materials Commission, serving a term as its Chairperson; and on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Dan holds an Ed.D. from UCLA in Educational Leadership; a Masters degree in Social and Philosophical Foundations in Education and a Masters Degree in History from California State University, Northridge.
Dr. Chernow has great insight into the education landscape and the nuances of educational leadership, trends, curriculum, instruction and assessment. His experience and expertise, along with some probing questions, always seem to lead me to ideas, solutions and answers that were sometimes locked inside and could not find their way out.
